This is an excellent writing paper with a laminated surface. I can write satisfactorily on this paper with a fine tipped fountain pen, but I really need a medium or broad nib to write easily. The surface is not as smooth as some other types of paper (e.g. Clairefontaine). The look of the paper is elegant and the feel is solid. In terms of quality, I would compare it to Crane stationery. The G. Lalo Verge paper is lined but not watermarked (watermarks are a problem for some people who see them as advertising). There are also no labels printed on it (like later Crane products). I prefer the smoother finish of the paper I use with a fountain pen (like Clairefontaine or Rhodia) than G. Lalo. If you're using a wide-nib ballpoint, rollerball, or fountain pen, this paper will work. It is elegant, meaningful and will make a statement about you and your correspondence.
