I bought these to style my hair after showering to give it a natural wave. Since hair is particularly prone to breakage when wet, using a hair tie keeps my hair from breaking and gives a more natural look to the waves in my hair after it dries and I remove the band. They don't tug on my hair, but they don't shed enough to pull out easily. I can actually sleep with it in my hair and it stays in place all night.
