Over a thousand fires later, this is my Pyro

I've bought every iteration of this Pyro. Pack 50, Pack 100. And now Mega 350 Pack. I buy the cheapest version at the time of purchase. They're all the same, the same kids, the only thing that changes is the amount you get. As I mentioned in my other reviews, I live in the coldest city in North America. Every year I try to heat my house mainly with wood. This means that we make many fires, sometimes twice a day. If we used kindling, we'll make face cords out of it. It's not my favorite thing to do, especially when it's -40 outside. These are incredibly reliable means of starting a fire, even with large chips of wood. I use a very simple log cabin style fire design. What I do is place the two pieces in my wood stove, front to back, about 2 inches apart. Then I put two more pieces next to each other on top. If I have space, I put two more pieces on top, front to back again. From there I stick one of them in that two inch gap, light it up and go. I always have a nice roaring fire in minutes. I think after using them for about three years I can count on two hands how many times I've had problems. It's my fault every time. Every time that happens, I just go back to basics. Fire needs three things - heat(it), fuel and oxygen. Find out which component you are missing and they will fix the problem. You would think that after using it literally a thousand times this would be impossible, but anything can happen. Over the years we've figured out almost exactly how much we're going to use per year. We use 175-200 of these a year so this pack of 350 definitely comes in handy as a one time offer for this purpose. That's quite a large pack of fire starters! However, I found it worth checking the prices for the 50/100 packs as sometimes the smaller packs are actually cheaper. It's like buying ziplock bags, they don't "go bad" and will last for many years beyond any reasonable expectation. It's paraffin wax and wood shavings, but on a scale beyond homemade and in sheer convenience. I could complain that the price of these has gone up steadily since I started ordering them. This is not a marvel of technology. Still, I think they're worth the price. The fact that I never have to light up again is totally worth it. The fact that I can start a fire with full size wood chips without using smaller pieces makes it a breeze. But there is a queue - so stop raising the prices! Note Note. :) My only complaint about them is that I've gotten so damn lazy about making fires that I use them to start a fire in my open fire ring. I take her on a hike. I was a fire maker, I could do it anywhere, anytime with any kind of firewood. I just don't remember. Seriously, if you're in at least half the situation I'm in with a wood heater, it's worth it. If you are a seasoned fire lover, these 350 packs will come in very handy. I would advise you to seriously think about what package size you need.
