Good for amateurs

We bought this camera to replace a 5 megapixel camera that was showing its age. My photography skills are amateur. This camera makes me look like I know what I'm doing. If all you want to do is point and shoot, this camera is for you. If you want more professional images, this camera is also suitable for you. A switch changes automatic, manual and video modes. A definite plus is that the camera remembers manual settings after they've been made. Even if the camera is turned off and on again. This comes in handy when two different people are shooting during the day (I like the manual mode, my wife prefers the automatic). It has general settings like portrait, night scene, kids and pets, etc. But it also has specific settings like ISO, AWB, my colors (vivid, sepia, etc.) and burst. Can be mounted on a tripod. The screen size is sufficient, the brightness can be adjusted. The display button shows the on-screen display, the display off, or just a topic. The supplied CD contains the manual and the software (unfortunately no book). A small booklet is included to get you started. The software allows the user to edit images before or after uploading. The kit also includes a USB cable and a video cable. I haven't taken the time to fully evaluate the software, but so far I'm satisfied. To give you an idea of how much storage you need, we also bought a 4GB card. At the highest resolution, this card can store over 1400 images. The camera does not have its own memory. The size is a little smaller than I'm used to. It's about the size of a credit card and just over half an inch thick. A small minus is to charge the battery, you need to remove it and put it in the included charger. When the battery is fully charged, the charging complete indicator lights up. It takes about 1 hour 45 minutes from full discharge to full charge. Battery life seems great, but we only got about 25 shots.

Pros
  • Quality build
Cons
  • Hard to say
