When you're around it sounds pretty loud and the vibration will knock the crap out of your desk. At the same time, the packing foam panels in the pump box itself fit right underneath, completely eliminating vibration and not transmitting sound at all. I installed it in my room about 8 feet from the door and when I close that door you can barely hear it in the next room. Turn on the music and it's completely silent. This is an ideal small desktop air compressor that can supply a lot of pressure and airbrush. Haven't tried air powered tools yet, but at max settings I bet it can handle some air powered tools too.
