No Surge Protector

First, let's establish what this device is not: It is NOT a surge protector in any way. There is also no GF (ground fault) detection. Any device that requires a protective earth connection (e.g. a 110VAC lamp with a metal housing) MUST NOT be connected to this strip. This is an extension cable with a switch and four USB connectors. This switch may be a self-resetting circuit breaker (cannot be determined by visual inspection). It's ALL there. There is an LED that indicates when the power is on. There is also a capacitor and I believe two resistors are used to power this LED. The protective conductors of the three 110V sockets are connected together and nothing else. This is a dangerous design decision in itself. If a device with protective ground and a conductive chassis shorts out, the conductive chassis of every other device connected to that power strip will also be live. / Isolated circuits must be connected to this extension. FYI: This includes most desktop/tower computers. Devices that use power bricks or wall warts must be safe. The reason I bought this strip is because it suits my intended use which is to provide power for the lighting and display of a photocopier. The light and camera are powered by USB. The display uses a 12 volt outlet. I also know and noted the side of the plug that should face the "hot" side of the outlet.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not everything fits
