Stops working after 15 minutes

I bought it a while ago but finally tried it for my Xbox 360 today. Xbox turned on, everything seemed fine, then I heard a pop and the adapter stopped working, and not only that, there was a smoky smell coming from the adapter. HORRIBLE AND POTENTIALLY FIRE HAZARD
