No need to buy a new DVD player or VCR
When our TV broke we replaced it with a new one. None of the new TVs have RCA connectors, only HDMI. None of the older DVD/VCR players have HDMI connections. This cable allowed us to continue using our old DVD players and VCRs on our new TV. It worked great. Very little screen degradation and easy setup. Just make sure your new TV has a USB port to power the converter.
