NOT HEMP. The colors will wash out and need to be repainted if you try to process them to soften them. The rope in the picture is purple. It's most likely sisal or jute, judging by the feel and smell. After washing, boiling and drying three times and heating over a flame to burn off excess fibers and brush with jojoba oil. Oiling it is still coarser than real hemp which we bought from a reputable seller of hemp rope that is unfinished. Basically, if you're looking for hemp, a hands-on rope, or a rope that keeps its color, look elsewhere.
