I've been using this cooler for about a month but had to return it because it didn't fit me. I live in Michigan where it's not usually too hot, but it's summer and I tested this cooler. I used to use a 7 pound bag of ice in my cheap Coleman Blue cooler of the same capacity every day at work to keep water and drinks cool throughout the workday. I thought this would help limit ice cream intake and maybe it does and I'll explain later. I initially used it as is and put ice packs (pre-chilled in the freezer) in it to help when the cooler wasn't running. I turned it on after starting my truck in the morning and left it on for about an hour after I got to work, then turned it off. At first everything seemed pretty cold. But as the temperatures got warmer, you needed ice to get a good temperature and keep the water bottles cold enough to feel refreshing. Times here were mid 90's and sometimes in a parked truck. During the day the temperature of the car is very high, so that plays a role, but even outside at 90 degrees with 30 degrees cooling, the best temperature without ice is 60. It's not cold at all. Had it been a cooler 70 degree day, 40 degree water would have been great. I had to return mine because it didn't meet my requirements, but for many that may not be the case. I replaced it with a small 12 volt fridge and figured something that ran on a compressor would be a million times better. The ones I bought had the same/similar capacity and I found that I had to leave them running all the time instead of cycling when the car is running/not running to keep the temperature of the contents in a suitable range to hold area. Ultimately I think this is a good product for cooler climates or for those who want an ice pack to last longer. It used 52 watts constantly when it was on (and it nearly killed my battery one night when I forgot to turn it off), and the compressor-based fridge draws the same (in Eco mode), but it doesn't run all the time like a cooler. . It's about what you want, what you need and what you want to spend.
