This unit is a direct replacement for the original key fob. Key and transmitter fit perfectly. One of the advantages of this device over the original is that the original uses a short screw that threads into the metal key just through the back cover of the fob. On this unit the screw is longer and the front of the case is threaded so the key is held more securely and there is less stress on the plastic case than the factory unit. To properly assemble the device, you must hold the front and back halves of the case firmly together while installing the screw. When you do this, the case closes tightly and is stronger than the original keychain. Do not shorten the screw or you are essentially reproducing the design flaw that caused the original fobs to fail (the screw only goes through the back of the fob and into the key).
