Unusual use for this item but my husband had the idea and it works. The hydraulic part of our office chair broke and instead of throwing the thing in the landfill he measured the cylinder and I found a two piece clamp which he was going to fix and now the back of my chair is at the correct height and it doesn't sink to the bottom. So if you happen to buy an office chair that I swear used a large paper clip and a water pistol trigger, you can salvage the chair by buying one of the clamps and giving it a fixed height.
