Review on πŸ’Ύ Enhance MacBook Pro Retina 13" Storage with BASEQI Aluminum microSD Adapter by Antonio Gonzalez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Reliable SD card adapter for MacBook Pro

I bought this item because I wanted to increase the storage capacity of my MacBook Pro with Retina display. First I checked out Nifty MiniDrive. With the MiniDrive out of stock for months and many reviews pointing out that once the laptop was closed the SD card would eject and have to be reinserted, I started looking at other products. Several reviews state that the BASEQI adapter does not have this problem. The BASEQI adapter was also cheaper. I've been using it continuously for over 6 months now. During that time, it worked almost flawlessly for file storage (I'm using it as a Time Machine backup now). In that time it has been unexpectedly kicked out twice, which I consider livable. Removing the adapter can be a bit tricky (a fingernail won't do). I've had no problems accessing the SD card and Time Machine hasn't reported any problems with hourly backups in 6 months. (I get intermittent "We should delete old backups" messages so I know the backups are running.) Only flaw: the adapter doesn't extend the full length of the SD card slot on the right side of my early 2015 MBP with Retina -Display (see figure). However, I don't really look at the SD card slot most of the time, so I don't notice the problem. In summary, I'm definitely glad I bought the BASEQI SD card adapter; It was cheaper than other alternatives and was very reliable for over 6 months.
