Review on πŸ“» The ARCPT300W: American Red Cross Axis Safety Hub & Weather Radio with USB Cell Phone Charger by Marisa Lynn

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent emergency support

This little device does several things and does them well. A minute of starting a hand-wound generator gives 5 minutes of radio operation - the more you start, the more time. The crank is durable and easy to use. The battery can also be charged via the USB input, and there's AAA battery power too - the battery status on the display shows both charging and AAA charging. The radio covers all NOAA weather stations as well as FM/AM. The sound of the radio is very good. The radio also has a NOAA alarm function, but you'll need to plug in a USB charging cable to keep the radio on long enough to use the alarm (or regular start). The USB dump will charge phones, iPods, etc - it's not a full charge, but you can use it to make a quick call and use your iPod for longer. The assembly of the handle and crank makes it easier than some other devices to stabilize the device while cranking. I bought 8 units as a gift - one had a broken battery connector cable and Eton replaced it very quickly - Eton have excellent customer service. Overall - I think this is the best cheap handheld emergency radio/charger out there.
