So I bought a CCTV system to install all over my house. I decided to return it to Revane for a number of reasons. But as for the price, honestly can't complain, it's a good deal. So I figured black cameras would look good in my house, but I was wrong, white ones would definitely blend in better. The cameras are actually designed for outdoor use. However, if you read the manual. It clearly states that the cables must be protected from water and sunlight. This means that all your camera cables must be routed within the cable duct. If you don't run wires in the attic, I have an RV, so I need to use conduit. Installing the hard drive in the dash cam was very easy, the holes and everything matched perfectly, I was shocked that it was such a cheap system. I used an old hard drive from my gaming PC and the formatting process was very easy with no issues. Cameras are 720p, night vision is fine. It looks like it will snow outside when it rains, but you still get some visibility. To be honest, I wish the cameras could read license plates. These cameras cannot read license plates at all. So I will try higher quality cameras like 1080p. Hopefully with a better resolution I can see more clearly. The software itself has some decent features. The installation process sucks, you have to click everything. The software itself is outdated and doesn't work. Google has tightened its security so trying to set up email is not possible with Google and some other email providers. As a web designer, I logged into my cPanel and created an email address using one of my domains. With this I was able to successfully get the email function to work. I wanted to set up security cameras to detect motion. I would have received an email. The photo included in the email will be used by law enforcement in case thieves steal my DVR. However, the image I inserted is an extremely low resolution of 352 x 288. This makes it pointless to try Use email as a backup for records. Remote View application that I could not install. I set up an account with no IP and waited 24 hours for the verification process to start. No-IP will not activate immediately. After successfully setting the IP address on the system, I still couldn't log in through the app. I tried installing the app on both my Android smartphone and my desktop computer. If you want this system to just control your home without remote access then go for it. However, if you need remote access, buy a more expensive system with modern software.
