Easy to use and self-explanatory! To be honest, I didn't even look at the manual. It comes with a glove but I'm used to using curling irons and sticks so I didn't use it. I usually take small 1 inch sections and hold them for 5-7 seconds before moving them down. For really defined waves, you should use smaller sections of hair. As you move it down, also position the barrels so that the top barrel runs over the already heated hair, pushing the hair up (rather than pulling it down) so it cools in place and stays wavy. Pretty clear if you're playing with it, watching a YouTube tutorial, or need help. All I can say is that the photos used are misleading. You don't get curls but beachy waves after braiding your hair.
