Review on Extech 407777 Heavy Moisture Meter by Kenny Marozas

I purchased 407777 (not the counter that is pictured incorrectly but the real 407777) and at first it seemed to work correctly. I started measuring the moisture content of every piece of wood in my workshop, mainly to get familiar with it, and everything seemed fine. Then there was a brief period of inactivity, but when I used the unit again, instead of turning it on with the normal "---" display, the initial reading was about 9.6% with the probe pins not touching anything. The built in test passed and the built in calibration showed that the manual spoke correctly. has been serviced and calibrated, the unit still had the same issue when i received it back. So as it stands I can only trust it to be used for relative readings, so it has a much lower value than intended. Maybe one day I'll find someone I can trust.
