I read a lot of conflicting reviews and decided on the adult size. I'm 5ft 2in, 135lbs and I've read that an adult runs very small. I can confirm that it's definitely made for shorter people, but the proportions are still wrong. but I can't tighten them either. For that matter, I can probably get away with youth size. There's maybe 2 inches of velcro to work with, and to keep it snug, it barely touches the edge. I think it's ok, but I didn't do it. I haven't tried a fall test yet, but the knees are almost perfect, even though I carry most of the weight on my lower body, I would prefer all the pads fit properly, but if you have to buy the parts separately and pay 3x more. If I were to become a straight young man, I would either cut off the circulation in my legs or be unable to bend them to use my unicycle. Otherwise they look great, feel comfortable and feel sturdy enough.
