I bought two of these. One plugs into the USB port on the back of my desktop and makes it easy to switch USB sticks while I'm at my desk. The other is for my laptop. I have a small wireless mouse that comes with a USB adapter that's only about an inch long, not counting the part that fits into the slot. I forgot and put my laptop in my bag and the next day when I went to use the computer I found it was broken. Unplugging what was left of the connector from the computer was a real agony. Of course, the mouse also had to be replaced. Now I attach a small connector to this short cable and since it hangs down the end of the computer I don't have to worry about forgetting to remove it or losing it.
