I'm not entirely sure if it's because of the heat from the windshield, but even on a cloudy day I can NEVER use this device. It doesn't matter whether it's a window or a dashboard, I put my phone in, everything works great, and no more than 3 minutes - the phone overheats! Not only does my phone case get damaged over time, the phone holder itself becomes completely useless! I can't use ANYTHING until the phone cools down and when I put it back on the charger it just repeats. I'm not sure if this is due to external circumstances or my defect. I left it in the shade and plugged into AC, held it in my hand so the charging pad was airborne for about 10 minutes and when I finally touched the charging pad the device itself was sooooo hot. I like the automatic arms that grab it when I put it down, the magnetic charging (if I could use it) and the suction that is SO DURABLE I can move it anywhere in the car and never have a problem. I'm so so so disappointed that I never really get to use this product as I take a lot of long distance trips weekly and I was dying to get my mom one for Mother's Day! ********* **UPDATE**************** I can only use this item if I only use it in a vent mount as the air conditioning will suffice for that Does the device not overheat my phone. Again, I love every aspect of this mount, I only wish I could show you its advertised versatility! Probably good in any climate other than Arizona.
