Plug and Play - Lighting and lighting accessories

Installed this on my 2005 Ram 2500 yesterday. I also used the Rough Country front bumper bracket kit. The light bar fits perfectly into the empty groove in the front bumper between the tow hooks. While the lightbar itself is fairly easy to mount to the brackets with the included hardware, Dodge has NOT made it easy to remove the tow hooks. This is necessary to install the brackets. This was the most difficult and frustrating part of the process. After trying my patience for a few hours, I was able to do this without removing the front bumper or any other components. If you own this truck and want to do this installation, I would recommend using an impact wrench (and various other sockets, adapters, wrenches, etc.). I don't think I would have made it without him. If there was enough room to get to the nuts and bolts it would take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour total. Anyway, once the light was finally installed, the wiring was pretty easy. Just connect the positive and negative cables to the battery. I removed the connector on the firewall and cut it with a handsaw so the switch wires would go through the firewall. This small connector is secured in the cab under the steering column with two 15mm hex nuts. This is actually a passage for the clutch if you have a 6 speed gearbox. There was still a lot of wire left, so I tied the extra wire and wire harness up next to the battery and fuse box. Now that everything is complete the light is very bright. I love the clean look it gives my truck. Again, the installation would have been much shorter and easier if it weren't for the space issues on my '05 Ram. A good product.

Pros
  • LEDs are IP67 waterproof and have a robust die-cast aluminum housing.
Cons
  • A few little things
