This SATA to 6 pin PCIe power adapter cable appears to be made of high quality materials. However, it may not be able to handle all 75W for a 6-pin PCIe power connector. A single SATA connector serves as the power source; The SATA power connectors are rated for a maximum power of 54W. It receives +12V and grounds each of the 2 pins of the SATA connector, using two wires to connect to 2 of the 3 +12V pins of the PCIe connector. The last contact remains unconnected. It also uses two wires to connect to 2 of the 3 PCIe slot ground pins, but adds a jumper wire from one of those 2 to the last ground pin. So for a 6 pin plug, 3 ground pins are connected to ground and 2 of the 3 +12V pins are connected to +12V leaving the last +12V pin unconnected. I am using this adapter to provide extra power to my motherboard rather than powering the graphics card directly, so I assume it will be sufficient for my needs.
