These are really good gloves. The inner part of the gloves is similar to fleece and thus perfectly warms the fingers. The outer material absorbs moisture. If the gloves are submerged in water they are not waterproof but should repel water. The index finger and thumb of each glove allow you to use your phone or iPad, but they are not 100% responsive. Size wise I have a 10 year old and a 14 year old. For a 10 year old the gloves were a bit big and probably won't fit for next winter season. For a 14 year old they were comfortable. They might fit this season but he will definitely outgrow them soon so I would recommend using them for the 11-13 age group rather than 8-16 as stated in the sizing.
