Review on Brooks Men's Adrenaline GTS 21: Ultimate Support and Performance for Every Run by Eric Nallamothu

New upper wraps the ankle

I used to hate Adrenaline because it was too soft in the midsole and outsole for serious running but now this is the only shoe I can wear since I have developed plantar fasciitis. (heel spur). A few years ago, however, all Brooks started using a ridiculous new padded ankle collar. It digs into your Achilles tendon and ankles and is so soft that within a month it will rip to shreds, making it look like it's been chewed by a dog (with an expiration date?). On the 21 model, they fiddled with the collar, making it a little thinner and a little thicker. I applaud this attempt but unfortunately it's useless because now the front of the collar rises too high and touches the outside of the ankle. This of course makes the shoe extremely painful as it rubs on the ankle. There is also a problem with a straight heel without an Achilles notch. You need to form a bubble and then make it coarser to use the shoes. On the other hand, from a heel spur, this is the most comfortable model I've tried. (but only useful when standing in one spot because of the high collar). They are also real 4Es with lots of space. For this reason I gave an extra star. ALSO SUMMARY: WILL BE A GREAT PLANT FACE/WALKING SHOES WHEN THE COLLAR IS FIXED ON THE LEGS IN THE FUTURE.

Pros
  • Running
Cons
  • Not as thick as other shoes
