Review on OTC 3907 Probe Multimeter by Kevin Greer

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Fair at best. - Multimeters and Analyzers

If you are a homeowner and are looking for a tool that you can use from time to time to check if an outlet is hot or if a wire is open, you can this gauge to be acceptable. If you are a professional looking for a tool that you can use every day, I think you will be disappointed. The meter cable looks like a thin cable and is easy to pinch when using the cable holder on the back of the meter. My wire had 3 flat spots when it arrived from being pinched in the bracket. I don't expect the wire to last long once you put the wire back into the holder. The dots on the pins are dull and not very suitable for circuit board work. The tip attached to the body of the gauge feels loose and I would expect it to break or the body to tear if a lot of force is applied to the tip. The overall feel is cheap and the first time it breaks the bank it will be history. The quality doesn't even come close to the Sperry Penmeter I've had for 20 years. I would like to get another Sperry but I couldn't find it.

Pros
  • Combination switch with function and power switch
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
