Unique design. The two pieces in his box are separate and all you literally do is put them together. It is so easy. The charging dock wraps around the Nintendo dock itself. It is powered by the USB port on the Switch dock, eliminating the need for external power cables. This will also give you back the USB port you're using, since the dock itself has it! We continue. We have room for 4 additional joycons. So technically you can charge 6 joycons at once! Two from the switch and four from the charging station! Also two game holders on the other side of the dock. I appreciate it because for certain games that aren't digital themselves, or for those times your loved ones get you a physical copy, it's nice to be able to host them. The charging dock is pretty basic, displaying a red LED for charging and a green LED for charging. I took my joysticks off the charge for at least 24 hours and fully charged them in about 2 hours. No problem. Definitely a great inexpensive accessory to add as a stocking filler.
