This is my third Lumix. We have the more expensive LX-2 - the top model of its time - a great almost pocket sized camera. I also bought a cheaper FZ-28 for hiking, which is disappointingly loud. This camera is /very/ good for what it is. It's smaller than I expected, which is good. It's also lighter than I expected. This is not a tank like some Olympus cameras. [I don't care if that's a good thing or a bad thing.] It's glaring, since the lens is covered by flat glass with no sunshade, but as long as you're looking where the sun is, it's not that big of a deal. . I got it wet camping but haven't taken it under water yet. There are many videos on YouTube of people having this. I was expecting the battery and SD card door to have some sort of lock (like Sanyo's waterproof one) to prevent someone from accidentally opening it underwater. If someone made a camera condom for this model I would probably just use it to cover the door. These are bracketing shots of just +/- 1 EV; I would prefer 2 so I can shoot HDR if the situation calls for it. But for that you need a _wonderful_ video. Raw video on a big screen TV is great. It has a good wide-angle lens, adjusts focus and exposure quickly (and in small increments). I use AVCHD Lite with Mac. I first used it as a video camera at a dog show. I posted the results on YouTube under Beck Best of Breed. Most recently I used it to film "Road in the Moanalua Valley - after the rain". I'm also very pleased with its macro capabilities. I bought green; it's subtle and doesn't look cheap or industrial. It is strong enough to be used frequently. Although I bought a second battery, the battery for this camera is not a small toy. I've never had problems when the battery died first, but I don't usually use a flash. I would recommend this camera if you do regular outdoor activities and want to take an extra second or two to see where the sun is. regarding the camera.
