Review on YOUKOYI Magnifying Metal Swing Magnifier Lighting & Ceiling Fans by Randy Gunnmann

Revainrating 4 out of 5

useful as a magnifying lamp and as an ordinary adjustable lamp

Purchased 16 August 2019 and reviewed shortly thereafter. useful as a general flashlight over the work area even when not using a magnifying glass. can be connected to a USB power source, including a battery, commonly used to charge cell phones, via a USB extension cable. I keep my clip attached to the side of my desk all the time and take the lamp out and put it next to my desk when I'm not using it and leave it plugged into the power supply with a USB extension cable. Update December 11, 2020: After a little over a year it stopped working. Asurion's protection plan wouldn't pay, so I opened up the toggle button case and found it was a design flaw. Nothing in the button body was strongly adhering to the wire's insulation and would not allow the 3-wire cable to pull in and out during movement, resulting in the breakage of one of the wires. However, the case is easy to open and if you know how to solder wires, this is an easy fix. I modified the button body slightly and added a wire retainer and heat shrink tube strain relief before soldering it together to assemble the button switch body. A previous wire problem occurred in the middle hinge section of the wire where the wire bent too much and broke inside the insulation, but this was quickly fixed by tying the bad wire into a small loop to hold the damaged part together inside the insulation. So unless you're good at soldering wires and fixing things, you can expect this lamp to only last about a year. but nowadays fifty dollars a year's service in anything electrical is to be expected.
