Review on πŸ‘ Peachtree Audio M24 Bamboo-Powered Speakers (Pair) by Ann Coleman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Beware of RCA connectors

The product looks and sounds good. However, I wanted to use the RCA input for them. That was problematic at best. Not one, but two pairs of speakers hissed and crackled when connected to a computer, caused by simply moving a Bluetooth-connected mouse or typing on a USB-connected keyboard. It was very noticeable with or without audio playback (movies or music). This happened with both the 3.5mm jack on a 2018 Macbook and an external CalDigit Thunderbolt 3 dock. I also experienced this on a 2012 Dell M6800 laptop. Neither computer did this when I used my 20-year-old Yamaha speakers, noise-cancelling headphones, or Apple EarPods. Strangely, using these speakers with a device that wasn't connected to the network didn't cause any problems. My iPad and iPhone didn't have this problem with RCA connectors. I've repeated the above with three different cables and the results are the same. This can seem like a problem when connecting a grounded device to speakers with RCA jacks. It was even louder when switching from "Aux" to "Phono". However, the speakers connect to the Macbook via Bluetooth without crackling or hissing. Optical input for comparison not tried. I like the speakers in terms of looks and sound. Take the money, they're better than some of the other options, especially in this price range. The speakers are solid and look good. I'll rate them a 3 for RCA connection issues. One of the reasons I bought the speakers was to connect multiple devices to them, but I'm forced to use Bluetooth to connect to my computer.
