Review on πŸ’‘ Sunbeam Advanced 7-Outlet Power Strip Surge Protector by Michael Reynolds

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works as advertised, but standby power consumption is high for a low-power device.

Worked well right out of the box, on a low threshold with a monitor connected to it. Turns off the controlled devices about 30 seconds after turning off the master. It was a little tricky to plug into the outlet the first time, but that's not uncommon. I underestimated it because it draws about 5.5 watts when plugged into an outlet with no additional ports. Even when switched off, it consumes around 48 kWh per year. I think that's a lot. However, if it saves more, it's a win. And it's good value for money. A more expensive competitor, the Tricklestar 4 Outlet PowerTap, draws less than 1W. With my expensive California electric bills, that's a $9/year savings over the Sunbeam.
