Review on Phanteks PH EC500ATG_BK01 Full Metal Mid Tower Tempered by Brian Krump

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great mid-tower case at a great price

I bought the P500A to replace my old Enthoo Pro case and the Phanteks design language of easy assembly and customization still applies. The 3 included (!) case fans are great value and in addition to the case fans I fitted a matching SK140 DRGB rear exhaust fan along with a 280mm AIO on top and the system ran at 68C during the stress test. Very impressive. + Hinged tempered glass door panel is a huge improvement over traditional thumbscrews + Enough clearance to mount a monoblock on top (P400A was originally considered, but heatsink clearance has been increased in some reviews) + PSU bracket eases installation and simplifies installation. add/remove extra cables + GPU Anti-Sag Bracket seems to do its job effectively and discreetly + Plenty of velcro and included cable ties on the back + Numerous built-in lighting modes that make for a nice amount of "rainbow" vomit" : ) - The front ones Fans are mounted inside the case (blocking the view of the fans), and there's barely enough room for the stock 140mm fans to mount directly behind the mesh bezel. Maybe this is a design oversight? - A gap in the PSU shroud near the front fan (see first photo). This was probably done for better airflow through the bottom front fan, but the gap is quite large and exposes some of the cables underneath - the bottom panel only has dust filters for the PSU fan. This isn't an issue with my fan configuration, but it's worth mentioning. found the right balance between practical features and price, and I see myself in this case for a few more years. There are plenty of other mesh front options, but the P500A is the complete package.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some bugs
