It's a sponge, not a rag. Don't drop the piece unless you're being rough.
These sponges are bristly and I'm not a small tame specimen. It fills my grip and then some of it is amazing. They come vacuum packed so at first you'll think they're BS. They feel good and have a good exfoliating "scraper". They don't hurt and I felt better than a washcloth. I should have had sponges long ago. I've read reviews saying they're falling apart, but they aren't. Just use it properly, you wash the human body, not the car. I prefer a hard sponge. That's it.
