Surprised by the image quality and build quality

This is my first ultrawide monitor and has replaced my 27 inch Apple display. I was surprised by the picture quality and build quality, especially since this model was much cheaper than models with the same specifications (ASUS, Dell, other LG). etc.). I thought about shelling out another $300 to buy an Asus MX29UC 4K monitor, but I'm glad I didn't. I mainly use this monitor for data analysis. My current workflow seems a little smoother with this monitor, and the transition from a dual-monitor setup was surprisingly easy. LG's split screen software is also great to use, but is no different than using dual monitor setups with more than 4 windows open. You're basically limited to windows snapping to the screen, which means split-screen modes are fixed, and resizing some windows to your preferred size is a little annoying in a specific split-screen mode. Also, seems like it works like it would take a bit to get Mac OS for a 2560 x 1080 drive or 21:9 aspect ratio. Once you get past the display settings, the monitor is truly wonderful to use. Currently my work computer (MacBook Pro 2013) is connected to this monitor via mini displayport to displayport. I also installed it on a Vivo VESA mount. It should be noted that the description of the monitor mentions HDMI and USB-C ports. However, the monitor I received had a Displayport and HDMI, not USB-C. You can check the images on the back to confirm the presence of the connectors before purchasing.

Pros
  • It is wonderful. I am now an avid fan of ultra wide angle lenses.
Cons
  • Monitor cables are too short.
