I used this product for my large 90lb German shepherd husky puppy because he started pulling again and I was in crutches and needed help walking him. It was great because I could control him with a bad leg and my friends were able to help me. It was the only thing I could walk him with that wouldn’t drag me to the floor. However I could tell he was uncomfortable with it I think because he’s not used to having things around this snout (even though I tried to let him wear it around the house and get him used to it a few times before walking him). And then when I was finally able to take him out on regular walks again he started to become reactive around other dogs and guys because he was nervous due to being at my house for the 5 months I was in crutches. Having the gentle lead around his snout didn’t help either because it made him more nervous since he couldn’t open his mouth all the way (I made it smaller to control him easier because I was afraid he would attack a dog, I wasn’t sure how he was going to react). I noticed he’s become very protective over me especially in new places and there was a guy walking his husky towards us and my 9 month pup, being as smart as he is figured out the way to stretch and loosen the gentle lead and pulled his snout half way out (the gentle lead was on the top part of his mouth in between his teeth) and he chewed on it in like 5 sec and almost broke it, I had to use a spray bottle with water to calm him down so I could take him back home. It ripped the next time I used it. I’m looking into a prong collar specifically to train him and get him used to walks again since I am still recovering from my leg and he’s about 100lbs right now.I would recommend this product to people with some kind of disability that already have their dog trained. It helps a lot with controlling your pup without using a lot of force. If you have hand problems or leg problems this is the product for you. I wouldn’t recommend this for puppies, just because my experience. It can make your puppy feel more nervous and become reactive because of feeling defenseless with that around their snout. I would recommend getting the pulling under control with a regular leash at an earlier age (2-4 months) that way you’re not suffering later. If your dog is older and not trained, and he’s a medium-large breed I would recommend the prong collar to use just for training and correct behavior when he gets distracted from you. Do some research on the prong collar beforehand though to make sure you know how to use it.
