This is a USB 3.0 hub. This is a powered hub. This means that a plug-in power supply is available. This means you can connect a USB device that needs to be powered from the USB port. Many USB hubs are not powered and are powered by the host computer. Many computers have trouble getting power to the auxiliary ports. I haven't been able to verify that this hub runs at true USB3 speeds. I have no way of measuring it. But I have connected 3 USB devices including one that needs power from the port. Everything worked perfectly ADVANTAGES • Very small footprint. You can easily hold the device in one hand. • The computer's USB port (which you connect to your computer) is located on the back of the device along with the power input. This makes it easier to connect additional devices and there is no confusion as to which port is connected to the computer. • Very fast. It is classified as USB3, which is much faster than USB2 for devices designed for this new standard • Compatible with any USB device (USB 2 or 3) CONS • None. I love this center!
