Review on Charging Nintendo Switch Station Type C by Mike Donathan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Super stylish and high-tech look. It even catches the eye. Maximum charging speed, high efficiency

Overall a great Joy-Con charger - much better than using the switch itself. The support for 4 Joy-con controllers is just perfect for 2-player games Fight! It looks very stylish, the light strips are flashy and "futuristic" and make it very quick and easy to see when the joy-con controller is fully charged. across the room in bright light. The packaging/manual states it draws 220 milliamps per joy-con. It doesn't include a charger - just a USB-A to USB-C cable (if you find it's not long enough, even the cheapest cable will do for charging only - look at your dollar store or your local store). I ran current draw tests with several chargers: PD, 5 amp + QC, and 1.5 amp. In all cases, the device with 4 joysticks draws a whopping 882 milliamps (at 5 volts). I would recommend using a charger that can handle at least 1 amp (1000 milliamps) at 5 volts. Anything above that is fine, but won't speed up the process. Any less than that and it will charge slower (cheap chargers with the wrong design can overcharge so definitely consider 1 amp as the minimum). As for the charging speed, I did a little research and it turned out that 220mA is the maximum charging speed for a Joy-Con. - There are no chargers (including the switch itself) that charge faster. This means there is no reason to pay more! Here are the cons in order of importance. None of them play a major role. * It really should include what type of USB power to use. Not everyone has a USB tester.* The lights are always on, and the No Joy-Con, Joy-Con Low, and Joy-Con Full lights are solid green. In the case of sockets without a joycon, at least the light must be switched off. Empty/dead should be distinct from full, but this may require more circuitry (I would suggest flashing red instead of green - it seems confusing) *Light can be too bright/distracting when used in a darkened room (definitely too bright for sleeping) * It would be very cool if the gauges showed the percentage of charge. Assuming they only use red/green LEDs, mixing them can produce orange and yellow light. (Again this will probably require more circuitry; just nice to have) Overall fantastic value for money and I see no reason to spend more.
