This activity cube is larger than I expected. It's more than the size of any of those shape sorters. I am very happy with the size. The material is plastic. However, it is a more durable plastic and light in color. My favorite feature of this activity cube is that it can be taken apart or put back together in a variety of ways, not just as a square. Each site offers different activities. But it's nice that each side has so many items to manipulate. The fiddling, moving, clicking, rotating and sorting makes this toy interesting. I've found my kid likes to lay them flat first. Then she sees everything at once and mostly plays from there. She doesn't just line them up. It just depends on her mood, but on the floor is her place for this toy.
