Review on Keeper 02942 30 Recovery Strap by Rip Twin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A large, indispensable device. Much, much, much better than chains.

A great piece of must-have gear. Even if you don't drive off-road and such, it's still very good to have in your car/truck/SUV. I received it in September 2014 and it is now March 2015. I bought it and put it under the passenger seat in my old 250cc Dodge Ram 4x4. Since then I have towed 5 cars. A small SUV driving down a hill. Full size truck in the snow. Cadillac drowned in the mud. And the list goes on. A car was towed several kilometers. The strap was dragged down the street, pulled over, even had a 1 inch hole made by someone with a tow hook when the strap came loose and then tightened again. I didn't even know the hole was there until we were done. It was the first tow. The strap was fine even if it was only 1 inch. I don't often write reviews, but this strap was worthy of one. The loops are perfect for going into a 2" receiver and then threading through the hitch pin. It is also sewn very well. If I need a shorter length, I sometimes go around the towed vehicle's evacuation site and then put one loop in and the other and then both in the receiver, which works surprisingly well. I think one thing to watch out for is what you type. You don't want it to be sharp enough to cut through a strap, although that hasn't happened to me yet. After all, these straps are much, much, much more secure than chains. I cannot stress enough how careful you have to be with chains. They will shatter, and each side will throw back shells, smash windshields, and severely injure people. I've heard that people have been killed with chains before. In addition, the belts are much lighter, take up less space in the car and do not leave rust stains. Win Win Win (: The bottom line is, grab the strap, it's good.
