The EVGA 650w P2 is based on the Super Flower Leadex Platinum platform, considered by many to be one of the finest available today. Some reasons why I chose this power supply. (1) No for low noise. I currently have ECO mode enabled, but I've tested it in both modes. My conclusion is that you don't want ECO mode off and the fan spinning all the time. (Why fan noise at all if you don't need it). I assumed that running the fan all the time would provide better cooling, but it's not necessary. The device is so efficient that it runs cool until you actually turn it on - it draws over 450 watts. I'm running 350-385 watts in games with maxed RTX 2080ti and still can't hear the fan coming off this unit because it hasn't turned on - the PSU doesn't need cooling yet! Your case temperatures need to get really high before the 650W P2 fan kicks in. This pup can easily keep up with passive blocks. (2) High efficiency, especially when used under light load. Whether you're not gaming or doing something intense but surfing the web, sending email, or just doing everyday chores, this power pack doesn't waste power like cheaper ones. In this scenario I'm drawing about 50 watts and this device is about 85% efficient at that level. Cheap power supplies have an efficiency of 60-70% at this low power. But even better, it has an efficiency of 90-95% over the entire range! It also has excellent load regulation, excellent ripple and overall temperature. If there is anything to complain about; The mobo cable is shorter than usual. I have a mATX case so I'm fine with that, but if you have a full size tower you probably need something longer. Because the device is fully modular, you can customize your cables as needed. Some have complained about the stiffness of the "sleeve" cables that come with this unit, but I definitely prefer them to the "flat ribbon" cables that bend and kink too easily. Just dry them a bit with a hair dryer before installing them. Not all EVGA P2 are created equal. In my opinion, the 650W model is the champion of this P series. If you want more power, check out their other lines or choose another brand. Just do your due diligence! There are many detailed technical reviews available online. Sent it back immediately as the fan curve and noise level are not the same as the 650w version at all. 750W gets very hot under low load (less than 100W) and the fan keeps turning on and off. Loud and annoying! Nothing beats a 650w version that stays cool and has no fans up to 300w+! The fan noise is comparable under higher loads. Stick with the much more efficient and cooler 650W version.
