Using a Fender Blues Jr amp, I compared the tonal response between the e609 and the Shure SM57. The e609 has slightly higher mids and better humbucking quality, but the SM57 picks up a wide range of frequencies, especially for cleaner guitar tones, so it adds a bit of fullness to the sound. However, the ease of use of the e609 with the amp (just hang it up top; I use velcro to secure it) is a plus. The biggest con I've found is that I don't get very much signal when recording through the Presonus DAW, which requires me to turn the amp up to a pretty loud volume. The SM57 wins in this aspect, but not by much. Decent mic but probably not the answer if you're looking for better sound.
