Review on Peak Design Travel Tripod: Lightweight & Sturdy 5-Section Aluminum Camera Tripod by Brent Ayyagari

Revainrating 5 out of 5

In retrospect, it has at least two big "problems ". As cool as it may look, it doesn't cost $350.

First question - I don't know ANY landscape painter who doesn't take at least a few panorama photos (several pictures put together). The head of this tripod does NOT have a plain pan. not without completely loosening the ball head and thus letting it wobble around another axis. If I found out sooner that would be a deal breaker! To fix this I need to buy a third party adapter there. another 30 dollars. which allows me to use a regular swivel ball head at any price you can afford! The second problem may be forgivable, after all this is a compact travel tripod. That is, were it not for the fact that her video promised how long-lived it was. when you fully extend your legs, BUT NOT the middle position. The lower segments of the legs are quite fragile, which is evident from their use. If I used a telephoto lens, I use it with the calf segments retracted. While this tripod may be stronger than some, it's not THAT much stronger. A plus is that it looks cool. :-/

Pros
  • handy thing
