Review on πŸ’Ž RICHERA Boutique Girls' Necklaces & Pendants: Electroplated, Handcrafted Jewelry for Extra Radiance by Bobby Montoya

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Interesting design heavyweight necklace with silver and copper colored metal beads/copper cord; with barbs.

Very interesting necklace with metal beads arranged in patterns of silver and copper. It is quite long and quite heavy with three strands of metal beads. The longest strand consists of copper colored metal square beads individually framed with a copper colored cord tying method. Sometimes this pattern is interrupted by a short, twisted, barrel-shaped arrangement of larger cube-shaped silver metal beads. One of the shorter strands has the same pattern while the other shorter strand is made entirely of square copper beads. The two shorter strands are joined together at irregular intervals, giving the necklace a unique look. The photos accompanying the product description give a good representation of the actual appearance of the necklace, but the length is not listed. I believe that the necklace should be shown on a model or at least on a mannequin so buyers can better understand what they are buying. The necklace is 38 inches long with an extender that will add an additional 2 inches if desired. The fittings are mediocre and you really don't need them for a necklace of this length (it slips easily over the head). The ring that holds the lobster clasp and the ring that attaches the clasp have gaps that need to be closed with small pliers to prevent the necklace from falling off and possibly getting lost. I have several other Richera necklaces with the same problem. Another issue is that the bell-shaped end caps have rough edges that snag on my clothes a bit. However, the main criticism I have is that the chain has tiny bumps here and there along its length. At first I thought that the metal beads are not smooth, but in fact it is a cord. This is evident when I run my fingers through the chain in both directions, and is particularly noticeable where the wrapped beads merge into the barrel. Some knots are a bit dirty in the areas where this happens. I don't know if some sort of glue or something was applied to either of the cut ends of the cord or just to keep the knots intact - similar to how I applied nail polish to hold anything and everything in place (before superglue back then). This won't be a problem with the t-shirts I normally wear, but I believe it could snag on a thin fabric top and it does indicate a possible weakness in the design of this necklace. I found it interesting that another reviewer mentioned two broken strands in her new necklace. While I think this is a very interesting design, I have a few reservations. I ended up deducting a star for problems with the spiky areas of the cable and I will update this review if I have any issues with the threads coming loose or breaking.
