hardness 2.5 out of 5 very hard. My 4 year old uses this pillow and she feels comfortable and snuggly on it. In my own experience of trying to sleep on it for several days, it is equally firm and soft. I mean, in a long side sleep, he didn't hear my ear at all. It supported the weight of my head, making it feel hard and soft at the same time. If you're looking for a pillow ranging from firm to super firm I wouldn't recommend this, but if you want something firmer than the soft pillows that can be found regularly then this is your best buy.
