Loud and broken

The unit arrived in unsealed retail packaging which is a bit embarrassing. It might be a returned block, but I can't tell. The left channel has repeated clicks and clicks that disappear for a while when you change the equalizer setting or menu item selection. This suggests that it could be a software issue, but I can't say for sure. I reproduced the problem with both Bluetooth and optical inputs. I requested a replacement device and I'm having the same problem. The device also has an alarmingly high level of hissing that is only slightly related to the volume. The replacement unit also has this noise, so I'm bringing both back and switching to a different amp. The noise level is absolutely unbearable for an amplifier in this price range. I don't understand why the machine makes noise when nothing is playing. At least implement a simple squelch or something, after all it's a class D amp so should turn off when there is no input signal. This model has received excellent reviews on social networks. Now I'm wondering if the reviews were paid for. As far as performance goes, this is a great unit, but even my old ears can tell this amp sucks. So far a significant improvement over my Q5 Pro, which unfortunately started having problems after 3 years. Edit #2: The hiss is actually coming from the case itself. The case appears to be emitting high frequency white noise as the sound is reduced somewhat when I place my hand on it. I'm not sure if some component inside the device is making noise or if the case is vibrating from the induced EMF. In any event, the noise makes this unit unsuitable for a computer desk unless you turn it off without listening to music.
