I have been using this appliance for a number of years and am a very enthusiastic home baker; I probably use this several times a day. However, it doesn't really achieve its goal of making your life easier by not emptying the bowl every few minutes. (Now I'll explain why I like it, but I don't think my situation applies to most people.) The problems with this racket are twofold. The main problem is that it doesn't actually require less cleaning. It collects the batter all over the rubber side. This happens 100% with every single thing that gets blended in this blender between every step of every recipe I've ever used it for. The material that is collected there is always different in texture/color from everything else and does not mix with it. So what you need to do is take the mallet off the machine, clean the side of that rubber with a trowel, and then move on. with your mix. And because it doesn't scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl perfectly, although it's much better than a regular whisk, I often have to scrape the sides as well. No time savings. The second problem with this striking blade is that it spatters. Much has been said about this, and it is true. If you have a regular sized batter and use the mixer on a speed higher than 2 it will splatter and spill all over the place throwing the batter away. Not just initially when you increase the mixer speed too quickly, but all the time. You really can't use this whisk without the Kitchenaid safety tag. Just try it; I dare you ;) Now you have extra gear to store and wash every time (if you don't already use it every time). However, there is one thing about this mallet blade that works very, very well. Works great for small batches. I split recipes into two or four all the time, and when I do I always reach for that chopping blade. Sometimes there just isn't enough material in the mixing bowl for the whisk, in which case the whisk works MUCH better. I have a 5 quart mixing bowl that I use for all of this work with this whisk. And best of all: With just a few ingredients, it doesn't splatter! Uh, almost never. And you can mix everything. [For REALLY small jobs, I use a 2-cup Pyrex measuring cup and a Kitchenaid hand mixer - works great!] For small batches, great.
