I got it 3 weeks ago and the price was a little over 100 so writing this review I am shocked that the price has increased by more than twenty-nine dollars in such a short time. In any case, this beast is very different from my original tiny Gorilla Pod case, which only my 195g Canon S95 can carry, not my 440g Fujifilm X30, and certainly nothing heavier than that. However, THAT GorillaPod is strong. The legs are strong and too stiff and I can see it was quite difficult to wrap it around things as advertised (feel the legs might break if you do). The ball head is very nice, good quality. I am returning this particular tripod because it has redefined what I need a small tripod for. Desktop tripod for macro and close-up photography. I also tried my heavy Nikon D70S with its big, heavy zoom lens (I think it only weighs 1.7 pounds) and this GP supported it perfectly no matter what position I mounted it. suitable for travel (short, lighter) and I don't travel with my Nikon, I'm returning this (too big, tall and heavy for my needs) and think I'll go for a newer, smaller 1K GorillaPod because it suits my purpose fits use, and it's still small/light enough to take with you when you travel. Also, I think it would be easier to wrap the legs around a random chair or pole. The weight of the 1K version covers my two main cameras, but is compact and light enough to be used more than that. The legs on this big GP don't seem that agile and I can definitely believe the earlier review where the legs are broken. That would scare me. I think the metal in it affects things and I would be concerned about the durability of this GP. Now there is a newer (better?) version of this model (5K), but the price is insanely high. I gave this tripod 4 stars because it feels really solid and well made if it suits your specific needs. I can't praise how long it lasts without breaking, of course.
