This would be the perfect slice for cheese and at first glance it looks like it hits from all sides and then you wash it. The whole cheese slicer is polished stainless steel which would be ideal. Unfortunately they decided to save money for the screws that hold everything together. They are not stainless steel and as soon as you get this item wet these screws will start to rust. I'm not sure why this manufacturer decided to save 1-2 cents on a slicer and throw away a quality screw that won't rust, but the screws used are cheap and rust very easily. The rest of the cheese slicer seems to be of great quality so I take my own stainless steel screws and replace the rusted ones and this slicer should last a while. If the screw was of the same quality, this food slicer would have gotten 5 stars.
