Review on Unveiling the Ultimate Puzzle Experience: Picross 3D for Nintendo DS by David Golden

I bought this game for my 3DS XL because I couldn't find an interesting/challenging puzzle game using the 3DS' '3D' capabilities. I was very pleasantly surprised by this game. The tutorial facilitates the game mechanics for the player and allows him to understand how best to remove blocks using deductive and spatial logic. Once I learned the basics, it was easy for me to come up with new rules. I knew which blocks could be destroyed or saved just by looking at a row or column for a second. Then we move slowly (and sometimes quickly) from row to row, figuring out what can be saved and what can be destroyed. Completing each puzzle is extremely satisfying and rewarding. The challenge gets harder in later levels with a combination of rows of multiple blocks with multiple spaces and a shorter overall time limit. My only complaint is that sometimes I really had to guess which block to destroy or keep. Maybe I looked inattentively and missed something, but there have been several instances where this has happened. It's much more enjoyable to pass the level knowing you didn't guess at all; You just found out what the final fix was. After all, this is a very long puzzle game. Each puzzle took me about 8 minutes on average (between 3 and 15 minutes for each one), over 350 puzzles in total. If you do the math, you'll see that this game can take quite a while, especially if you want to repeat the puzzle to make sure you get a perfect score. Highly recommended for puzzle lovers.
