I've worn various versions of the Vibram Five Fingers for the past 12 years but am always looking for a shoe that has the benefits of Vibrams without the downsides of being The main reasons are the lack of protection from stones and sharp objects and also the fact that they attract unnecessary attention. After many years of wearing Vibrams for anything but dressy occasions, I can't wear traditional shoes because the toe box is tight and the heel is too big. The Oranginer seemed like a good alternative. That's mostly true, but if you've worn shoes with a sock for many years, then the Oranginer's toe box will most likely be tight and the sizing won't quite fit. I wear an EU men's size 45 on Vibrams, which normally corresponds to a US size 11.5. But Oranginer doesn't have 11.5. They have 11 or 12 but their website says their 11 is comparable to 45 EU. So here is what I ordered. And the shoes are marked 45. But they were too small for my foot. So I gave them to a friend who wears a European size 44 and they fit him. He loves her. I ordered a pair of 46s which Oranginer says are the same size as a size 12. They fit perfectly in length but the toe box is still a bit tight. However, it is a much more comfortable shoe than any of my Vibrams and protects the bottom of my foot. They cushion well and have a thicker sole. They are significantly heavier than all Vibram Five Fingers but are likely to weigh similar to traditional running shoes. I will use them for running and hiking but not for running. My friend is very fond of running in his Oranginer size 45. It should be noted that they cost about 1/3 the cost of a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. If you want the benefits of a barefoot imitation and don't need an extra wide toe box, you can't beat the price.
