Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works through 630 feet of deciduous trees. Somehow.

I couldn't do a throughput test, but I placed two devices in bridge mode 850 feet apart with 630 foot thick hardwood trees in between and was able to connect at -74 and -77 dbi according to the user interface. Working on channel 11, although channel 1 would probably make more sense for marginal (probably negligible) better foliage penetration. Signing up was easy, just set the computer to 192.168.188.5, subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.188.253, then type in 192.168.188.5. .188.253 in the browser. Plug one in, adjust as needed, and unplug one. Then do the same for the other ones, as once linked they will go to the host configuration page by default. They seem to be working well, although I've only had them for a day so far. I'm going to use them at work to connect the internet to a building 600 feet across the forest. So if I remember, I'll update you later in the summer on how they worked. One star because the UI, while pretty decent, is still a bit clunky and doesn't explain everything too much.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • long time
